OUR COMMON GROUND

Jasmine Patel, daughter of Purvi and Amrish Patel, was recently named the second place winner in the Illinois Music Educator Cover Art Contest for 2011.  Jasmine is a junior at Greenville High School and is active in sports and involved in drama and musical presentations at the school.  She is an honor student, a member of the National Art Honor Society, and a student council member.  All entries in the contest were recently displayed at the Illinois Music Educator Association All-State Convention in Peoria and the three winning entries will be framed and displayed in the state office.  You may see Jasmine’s entry on the web site, www.ilmea.org in the near future.

For the third time, students from Greenville High School, who are part of the National Art Honor Society, are serving as teahcers in a public art program.

Members of the public can learn about and do drawing and painting, and ceramics.  The final session for this year is Saturday, Feb. 6 in the high school art room.  

Anyone interested can participate. There is a fee.  Hours are 10 am - 12 noon for painting, and 1-3 pm for ceramics. Senior  Richard Rogers is the ceramic instructor.

Musician, Stephanie Plant, will be having a CD Release party on Saturday, February 19th at Adam Brothers Music and Coffeehouse sponsored by OUR COMMON GROUND.  The event begins at 7:00 pm.
