Mankind tends to view himself as separated from and above his environment. My work is ultimately about humanity and explores mans connection to nature, his place in it and how man seeks to explore and understand his environment. The sculptures examine what it means to be human and bring nature back to man by using natural and man-made found objects. We are not apart from nature, but a part of it.

Jennifer Angus
This work is inspired by a kind of Japanese screen-printed decorative paper based on the bright kimono textiles from an area known as Yuzen. The whimsical and colorful patterns contrast with common feelings about insects. The installation itself addresses the tension created by the beauty that is observed in the pattern and the apprehension felt towards insects.
